The debates:
McCain never looked at Obama, called him Mr. instead of Senator, and was condescending and can only talk about war and gov. spending (yet he voted along with Bush in insanely high percentage for the entire 8 years

Obama seemed much more respectful (he called him Senator when speaking of him, called him John when referring to him, and looked AT him often) - but didn't shine either. They both were - umm - boring. I thought it embarrassing that neither one would say what they'd sacrifice in their plan out of necessity due to the crisis at hand taking up their energy, money and time when whomever gets into office.
The financial crisis:
I worked at the largest mortgage servicer in the country for the last two years before moving to my current job - the second largest mortgage servicer in the country. AT the first one I handled regulatory complaints of borrowers - that means complaints from homeowners that were going into foreclosure and had complained through their congressman's office or attorney general. I know all about how it works, what happens, who pushes who, what is real, what is political, what the liberal groups do - how they help, how they hurt, etc.
What infuriates me is the OH SO TYPICAL American response to this - the "fix it Daddy" rich spoiled attitude. Big Daddy Bush lets his children (big companies) play without supervision and they make a mess of things - and now instead of letting them sit there and deal with their broken toys - he busts his ass to go buy them new ones or pay to fix these.
First it was "oh shit - we went to far" SAVE THE BORROWERS - and then they pushed the banks into forced bad deals for folks that couldn't afford modify loans they couldn't afford to have in the first place. Then it doesn't work and NOW the companies are failing and the true finance firms that are raping mortgage surplus during the build up with mortgage backed securites - go under. SAVE THE COMPANIES!!
So now what? I'll tell you what - it's EVERYONE's fault. It's the greed of corporate America. It's the horrible management of the Bush administration to big business. It's the "keep up with the jones'" over spending attitude of the people. So yeah - we have a problem. Some folks are homeless. Some companies are bankrupt. But guess what - some are not. Some didn't buy above their means. Some didn't get into mortgage backed securities to take advantage. So let it cycle. No - it's not fair. Never is when you live in a community and not isolated and control your whole world. Grow up. LEARN.
The politics of the time won't allow the Democrats to work with the Republicans as we need - they can't resist pointing fingers and frankly - prolly tough not too after 8 years of the INSANE arrogance that has been and is George Bush, Jr. But Pelosi is doing us no good. However - the Republicans voted against the "bailout" **cough** rescue **cough** plan more - and frankly - I'm glad. It wasn't good enough. You MUST watch the greedy bastards more instead of just go rescue the companies with the taxpayer's money in the name of restoring credit - as if the damage isn't a big necessary for the CLEAR wake up call this country and it's leadership needed.
Republican president - Democractic congress. Failed. Republicans kill their own plan - Democrats didn't but they sure didn't help.
Life goes on and it will. Yes - it'll be different. Ugly. But it will go on and just MAYBE we'll learn. We may be Americans - but we're not that fucking special. I'm glad I saved my nuts for winter. Did you?

VP debates in two days - I can't wait. Palin is fun to watch like Bush - sheer entertainment value. She's even likable but then she actually believes what she says and they give her power which makes her insanely terrifying.

Ain't life grand?

How is it in the rest of the world?

We've chatted extensively about the VP debate but I had to leave a comment on your blog! Palin is LAME! I'm going to call her sound-byte Palin b/c she has no original thoughts and only spits off the sound bytes the campaign feeds her. She's a JOKE and it astounds me that anyone can support her as our next vice president.
She IS a joke. I just posted again and added some - I just think the HYPOCRISY of the Republicans calling all she does and stands for as OK is insane. They set the bar so low for her it's embarrassing.
